Fourth-graders visited the Georgia State Capitol and Supreme Court of Georgia as part of their Georgia studies.
Fourth-grade grandparent Rep. Katie Dempsey helped to organize the Georgia State Capitol visit, complete with a picture in her office and on the South Wing Stairs, guided tour, scavenger hunt, and pizza in the House meeting room. Darlington students were invited to a Q&A in the House of Representatives' chamber, where they could sit in Georgia's representatives' chairs and ask questions to Rep. Dempsey, Rep. Eddie Lumsden, and Majority Leader Jon Burns.
After lunch, fourth-grade parent Sutton Connelly ('01) organized a visit to the Supreme Court of Georgia building, where students met with Justice John Ellington and Justice Charlie Bethel. They got a behind-the-bench tour and even got to see the room where justices meet to discuss and deliberate on cases.
