Senior Ventures Spotlight: George Shropshire

Senior Ventures provides scholars an opportunity to research projects of interest, and the topic of my choice is the the history of classic cars. In this project, I will be talking about the types of cars on display at the Savoy Auto Museum in Cartersville, Ga.

I will conduct interviews with the museum’s curator and automobile collectors like my grandfather, George Shropshire Jr. Along with this, I will be making weekly to monthly videos about the featured exhibits housed at the Savoy Museum. In these videos, I will talk about the cars, the history taking place during the time the car was made, the price of the cars from then to now, the history of the cars, and other information.

My grandfather has inspired my passion for cars, and he is a very big car enthusiast. He has collected many cars from Corvettes, during the 1970s, to the 1957 GM Motorama Show car, also known as the Chevrolet Bel Air. As the Savoy Auto Musem was being created, he donated many cars. This has led to me to want to share about the history of cars in this museum. On the opening day of the museum, my grandfather and other members of my family visited the museum to see his cars. As we we traveld through the museum, I saw firsthand how much he loved cars.

I look forward to being able to share my love and passion for these cars with you all!
