Seventh grade Life Science concluded their unit on genetics and heredity by isolating the DNA of strawberries! Students used dishwashing soap to help break open the cells, salt to separate the proteins from the nucleic acids, and rubbing alcohol to "clump" together the DNA at the surface of their mixture.
