Playful, entertaining, and absolutely informative, our Get to Know series allows the personalities of the faculty and staff who make up the Darlington Community shine.

Beth has served as technology integration specialist at Darlington since 2015. She holds a B.S. in Middle Grades Education from Shorter College and an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University. At Darlington, she has received the Brown Faculty Award and was a recipient of the Carla and Leonard Wood Faculty Professional Development Endowment Award. Prior to her work at Darlington, Beth taught Technology, Robotics, as well as Business and Computer Science at Armuchee Middle School. She and her husband, Andrew, are the parents of Shyann ('26), Kaleb ('26), and Bella Grace ('30).

Let’s get to know Beth in today’s installment of today’s installment of our Get to Know series!

How long have you worked at Darlington?
Three years

Where did you grow up?
Rome, Ga.

Tell us a little about your family...
My husband, Andrew, owns ACW Landscapes, a landscaping company here in Rome. My son, Kaleb, and daughter, Shyann, are both in the fourth grade here at Darlington. My daughter, Bella, is a Deaton Darling in kndergarten.

Why did you choose Darlington?
Darlington is an incredible community. Everyone is extremely kind and helpful. The students are so well mannered and well behaved. Within minutes of my first tour for Kaleb, I knew he had to be a student here. It is like entering another world, where students thirst for knowledge, adults are loving and understanding, and the campus is breathtakingly beautiful.

What makes a good teacher?
Someone who is passionate about what they are teaching. Someone who loves my kids and helps them become a better person… not just at spelling, but as a human being. This is another thing I LOVE about our school. My kids walk out of the classroom more confident and better equipped for society.

What music is playing in your car?
Lauren Daigle

What’s your favorite podcast?
Undisclosed

My favorite movie is…
"Evita"

My favorite trip was…
Christmas break 2015 was full of flooding all over Rome, so we decided to check out Groupon and grab a deal to get out of dodge. We left the day after Christmas and headed to Hilton Head Island. It was totally unplanned, and the most amazing vacation our family has ever taken. We enjoyed spending time together unplugged, the weather was amazing, and we didn't have any schedule to follow. We didn't do anything fancy, just spent uninterrupted time being together as a family. We ended up adding two more days to the trip. It is a time I will never forget!

If I could travel anywhere it would be…
To see the Northern Lights

E-book or hardcover?
Hardcover

Beach or mountains?
Mountains

The last book I read for fun was…
“Into the Water”

The best advice I ever received was…
“Always Have Courage and Be Kind.” Okay, so maybe it was Cinderella's mom, and maybe it was a Disney movie....but it's advice I really admire!

My hobby is…
Backpacking. We love packing up our bags and heading into the woods.

Cats or dogs?
Neither. Except my dog...I like her.

Only my friends know I…
Break out into random songs at any given time.

When I want to crush karaoke, my song is…
“You Don't Know Me” by Jann Arden

My favorite saying is…
In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

What I like most about Darlington is…
The community. I love everyone that I work with and come in contact with. My children love their teachers (and their teachers love them). We truly feel like we are a part of a big, caring, fun family.
