The Rome Symphony Orchestra (RSO) Jazz Ensemble will present "Cool Jazz" in the Johnson-Drummond Amphitheater at Thatcher Hall at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 13The outdoor event will feature the talents of the RSO's professional musicians, as well as Berry College professors and local music teachers.

"This particular event highlights our jazz group with music from the 1940s and 1950s," said Debra Cook, RSO executive director. "It will be a nice, fun and laid-back concert for patrons to come and socialize with friends at our annual picnic."

The summer event is one of the symphony's most well-attended concerts. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic spread, including their choice of food and beverage, chairs and/or blankets, beginning at 6 p.m.

Tables and chairs may be rented by contacting the RSO or visiting the organization's website. A "best dressed table" award will be presented that evening.

"We always enjoy being at Darlington, and it has become a tradition for us to hold the June concert on campus," added Cook. "Everyone there is so helpful in assisting us."

Advance tickets are available for adults ($15), seniors ($10) and students ($2). Regular tickets may be purchased at the event for adults ($20), seniors ($15) and students ($2).
