Lunch from Outback Steakhouse, raffle prizes, superhero posters, snacks and flowers...
These are just a few of the many ways that Darlington parents have shown their appreciation for our faculty and staff over the past three weeks. Throw in three snow days and Spring Break and it was a pretty fun time to be a teacher here.
The gifts and the recognition are great, especially for teachers who often don’t see the immediate fruits of their labor. But most importantly, this recognition demonstrates the shared partnership we have in the education of the students at our school.
So, I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to our parents for their participation and commitment to this journey.
Thank you … for Faculty Appreciation Week.
Thank you … for hosting and attending engaging events in places like New York City; Jacksonville, Fla.; Little Rock, Ark.; and Charlotte, N.C.
Thank you … for working the concession stand, keeping the “book” or taking tickets.
Thank you … for cheering for our teams.
Thank you … for attending the play.
Thank you … for being a “room mom” and/or engaging with our parent organizations.
Thank you … for appreciating the mission of the school.
Thank you … for giving your children the gift of a boarding school experience.
Thank you … for your commitment to high standards and the value of education.
This list could go on for pages, and it highlights just a few of the many ways I appreciate the partnership with our parents.
I want to give additional special thanks to ELA-8 Tiger Pride and their overwhelming financial commitment to the 3rd-5th grade playground project. When I look back on this year, there is no doubt that the playground project will be a highlight!
