"I am a four-year alumnus of Darlington's Class of '65. I always enjoy the publication you send out each year about the successes of the school and students. When I talk to people about any success I have had in business and my personal life, I always attribute it to the education and life skills I learned at Darlington. In fact, the Darlington experience affected me enough that I was a founding board member of Trinity Collegiate School in Florence. My thinking was that our community needed to be able to offer the same experience that I had, while not having to incur the increased cost for housing and to be able to remain with their family during the turbulent high school years.
"In my case, as much as I hate to admit, I think the structure of being a boarding student probably was a critical part of my development. It also led me to being a member of the 4-piece rock band at Darlington. We were allowed to play parties and school dances by my senior year. I was a member of the glee club and got more musical experience there. That in turn lead me to a lifelong music hobby which ultimately had a part in my son Frank’s music career in Nashville (his son is now at Montgomery Bell). Darlington inconspicuously played part in this story.
