Alumni Success Stories: Buzz Rogers (’65)

One of the best aspects of my job is getting to hear from our fantastic alumni. Recently, I received an email from Frank "Buzz" Rogers ('65), partner at WebsterRogers LLP in Florence, S.C. Here's what Buzz had to say about his Darlington experience:

"I am a four-year alumnus of Darlington's Class of '65. I always enjoy the publication you send out each year about the successes of the school and students. When I talk to people about any success I have had in business and my personal life, I always attribute it to the education and life skills I learned at Darlington. In fact, the Darlington experience affected me enough that I was a founding board member of Trinity Collegiate School in Florence. My thinking was that our community needed to be able to offer the same experience that I had, while not having to incur the increased cost for housing and to be able to remain with their family during the turbulent high school years.

"In my case, as much as I hate to admit, I think the structure of being a boarding student probably was a critical part of my development. It also led me to being a member of the 4-piece rock band at Darlington. We were allowed to play parties and school dances by my senior year. I was a member of the glee club and got more musical experience there. That in turn lead me to a lifelong music hobby which ultimately had a part in my son Frank’s music career in Nashville (his son is now at Montgomery Bell). You can check him out on Wikipedia under Frank Rogers,
Songwriter/Music Producer. I have enclosed a copy of a recent Vintage Guitar Father’s Day feature article on the two us that is a good  overview of the story of music in our family (see PDF at top right of blog). Darlington inconspicuously played  part in this story.

"I was a founding member of our accounting firm in 1984, which has grown to be the second largest accounting firm in South Carolina with 140 partner/staff and 8 locations. My education at Darlington played a major role of my being able to become a CPA and to have the business success I have had. Keep up the good work and thanks for your contribution to my life." - Buzz
