As a connection to our study of plants in science, third-graders took the annual journey to B.J. Reece Orchards in beautiful Ellijay to pick fresh Georgia-grown apples. We toured the apple processing facility, visited with animals at the petting farm, slid on the giant slide, played in the corn box, ate a picnic lunch, enjoyed a tractor ride around the orchard, picked different varieties of apples and drank cold, fresh apple cider. Our day ended with time to shop in the farm market and bakery.
