Creative Technology: Chair Design

Monday, September 10, 2018 | By Olivia Laughridge | 126 views

The middle grades creative technology class used the design thinking process to create a chair for a specific user, using the steps of empathize, define a problem, ideate, prototype, and test.

My group created a chair for an elementary school student. Our chair had a bouncy ball for a seat, the ability to swivel, a rod to hang paper so the student can draw, containers for art supplies and snacks, stress balls on the arms of the chair, controls to make the chair move, and objects to fidget with to help keep the elementary student's attention.

The two other groups created chairs for adults and teenagers. We all shared our prototypes and provided feedback with "I like, I wish, and I wonder" statements.
