Jabberwokk yearbook named best in state, Inkslinger earns Excellent rating

November 15, 2023 | 460 views

At the virtual fall 2023 awards ceremony for the Georgia Scholastic Press Association (GSPA), Darlington's Jabberwokk yearbook earned the All-Georgia distinction, distinguishing the yearbook as the best in the state. The Inkslinger literary magazine was also recognized, earning an Excellent rating.

Winning the equivalent of a state championship, Darlington unseated the reigning titleholder, Woodward Academy in Atlanta, to claim the top spot. This is the first time the staff has achieved such an honor since 2016, when Ethan Pender ('16), current communication arts teacher, served as editor in chief.

"I am so proud of the work our Jabberwokk and Inkslinger staff members have done," said Pender. "This distinction is a big deal, and a great honor, and our students have proven that Darlington has some of the best, most creative communication artists in the state. I look forward to the year ahead as they build on their success to deliver another strong set of publications for 2024."

The following students from the Jabberwokk staff were honored by individual awards in the following categories (works marked as "All-Georgia" denote that student's work was named best in the state of Georgia for that category):
