Part of my Senior Ventures project involves connecting the international students learning virtually with the students learning in the classrooms. I am going to ask faculty and students to provide videos sharing brief moments of their daily lives.
Under the influence of COVID-19, hundreds of countries around the world have had to implement social distancing. Although this measure has effectively prevented the spread of the pandemic, we must also be aware of its impact on people's mental health. Social isolation will probably increase fear, anxiety, loneliness, and depression.
As international students, we have to overcome the time difference to complete our studies. The dual challenges of staying up late and social isolation have a severe impact on our mental health. Therefore, my project is to make people aware of the potential mental health threats to international students under the pandemic, and to propose strategies to help alleviate this phenomenon. The implementation of my project includes interviews with students, the application of relevant research and experiments, and organizing virtual social groups for international students to visit .
How do you relieve inner loneliness? Interacting with family and friends is one of the best ways. In order to alleviate the potential loneliness and anxiety of Darlington students in the current social distancing era, Mr.Kinney and I are going to launch an event to call for students and faculty of the Darlington community to participate. This event is designed to allow everyone to share their daily lives through short videos, so students, whether offline or online, in the United States or not, can participate in the lives of others, and appreciate interesting things that happen in different places and different time zones. All the videos will be posed on Darlington’s website thanks to Mrs. Collin’s support!
