What is Darlington’s Student Life Office about day in and day out? Aside from recording attendance and providing planned absence forms (and yes, delivering demerits and work details), our office works hard to ensure that every student has the opportunity to experience a full and happy tenure at Darlington.
Each day, the entire Student Life team comes to work with the student experience on our hearts and our minds. Sure, the road is not always smooth – we are talking about teenagers for heaven’s sake. In the course of a day, we may be celebrating a sports victory or a college acceptance with some and counseling a heartbreak with others.
There are days when we have hard conversations: when words exchanged between students are hurtful, when tardiness becomes a bad habit, when our dress code gets tested, but we recognize these are moments of learning, too.
Our team does not carry this responsibility lightly. Know that we are working hard to shape a culture of positivity, inclusivity and personal responsibility at Darlington School. In doing so, our students have the space to be confident contributors each and every day.
Darlington School is filled with amazing and unique students! We count ourselves lucky to be connected adults in many of their lives. Parents, we thank you for your partnership with us in helping teenagers grow into mature and thoughtful adults.
As a parent of a Darlington alum, a current senior and one just embarking on the teenage years, I thank all of you who have been a part of shaping of their lives. I believe in the village and am grateful for it!
