Darlington will host a special presentation for seventh through ninth-grade parents and students titled "What Parents Need to Know About Today's College Admission Landscape in Order to Plan Ahead for their Children's Futures" on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. in Thatcher Hall's Ledbetter Commons.

The program will feature guest speaker Nancy McDuff, associate vice president and director of undergraduate admissions for the University of Georgia.

The presentation is sponsored by Darlington's department of college guidance, ELA-8 administration and Upper School administration.

"Nancy is a highly-regarded admissions professional with extensive experience at both Tulane University and the University of Georgia," said Sam Moss ('63), Darlington's dean of college guidance.

McDuff will address today's college admissions process and focus on trends and issues that families need to understand when planning for the next steps beyond high school. The topics covered will help educate attendees on what every college looks for when considering a prospective student.

"The decisions that students and parents make about curriculum and extracurricular choices beginning in the middle school greatly impact the credentials they will have to present to colleges by senior year," said Moss.

The timing of the program coincides with the students' selection of courses for the 2015-16 school year.
