It’s strange to say the least that it’s my last year at Darlington. I still remember walking into Cooper in my Victoria’s Secret T-shirt, with enough family to have two baseball teams, and fear mounting in the pit of my stomach afraid of whether or not I would be accepted at Darlington.
Now, I’m sitting behind my laptop trying to write out my Darlington story and I have too many memories to even use. I have so many positive experiences, it would be difficult to summarize even a fraction of them, thus I need to thank Darlington.
I have gained so many memories and have learned so many life lessons at this school. I started high school unaware of who I was, what I expected of myself and of others. Looking back on who I was at 14, it’s almost embarrassing because I feel I have grown as a person (if you don’t understand what I mean, look at any social media/yearbook from when you were a freshman).
I didn’t expect a lot from myself my first year at Darlington -- I was intimidated by the challenges of a new school with high rigor of work and I did not think that I was good enough for this school. Without the encouragement of teachers and faculty members like Mr. Inman, Mrs. McCann and Mrs. Babb, I probably would not felt the sense of belonging at Darlington I do now.
I want everyone to attend a school like Darlington; this is an atmosphere that will encourage students to want to learn. The students, staff, and faculty are all here to watch your child better themselves, and I am so glad I got to experience their knowledge. I cannot imagine my high school experience anywhere else, and I am forever grateful to be here. So thank you, Darlington, I will miss you next year.
