Time is On Our Side

As the school year swiftly moves forward, our students find themselves bogged down in daily or even hourly task and assignments. Often times simple tasks become so overwhelming that a student will shut down or simply quit trying. In order for students to keep moving towards a successful exam experience, it is important to organize time and learn to use time effectively. Now is the time to open up those calendars!

In this electronic age, many of our students are using calendars on their phones or computers. Although this works for a great many students, they often see things in blips and starts, an assignment here, a dot there or a task due next hour even. Unfortunately it is there that students get stuck and have little to no idea as to what is “coming down the path.” Getting a monthly calendar, be it electronic or old-school paper, is important for time management and getting a clear picture of the long-term view. Posting a major test, quizzes, finals and even vacations can help a student start now to organize for study and success in the last few months of the semester.

As you are organizing materials and calendars, please remember we have only 4 school days left in the month of October, 16 school days in November and 10 school days in December before finals. Students should use November to begin reviewing material for the upcoming final exams. Posting study times on their calendars can be very helpful in preparing for this important and demanding time of year.
