Science and math honor societies induct new members

Darlington School’s science and math honor societies inducted new members during a ceremony held Monday, April 1, in Morris Chapel.

To be inducted into Gamma Chi Epsilon Science National Honor Society, seniors must be a member of the Georgia Junior Academy of Science; be in the top 20 percent of their graduating class; have successfully completed at least three science courses and be enrolled in a fourth; and be in good standing with Darlington School. Inductees included Alyson Paige Atwell, Bailey Elizabeth Brock, Lauren Victoria Chin, Alexandra Leigh Collins, Madeline Parker Gaffney, Grace Anne Josephine Greene, Qingzi Guo, Ryan Drake Haley, Christina Gray Hubbard, Remy Elise Jennings, Celina Begum Kassam, Shelby Marie Martin, Saahil Anil Patel, Patrick Allen Tarrant, Caroline Elizabeth Walker, William McAfee Warren, Qianyu Xiao, Yukun Xu and Du Zhang. Additionally, in recognition of outstanding service in the teaching of science, retiring physics teacher Donald Sweeney was named an honorary inductee.

To be inducted into Mu Alpha Theta Math National Honor Society, students must be currently enrolled in Pre-Calculus and have a minimum 94 average in all math courses taken. Only seniors may be inducted during their first year at Darlington. Inductees included Maggie Beth Atha, Maria Barragan, Kenzie Burk, Josh Buttshaw, Bethany Cagle, Francisco Canales, Jenny Chen, Avery Cypress, Grigsby Gordy, Fiona Guo, Connor Hallett, Brad He, Matthew Heiken, Winston Herring, Vera Huang, Chandler Johnson, Celina Kassam, Johnny Malone, Sarah Manning, Will Mathis, Anna McKenzie, Jordan Muschamp, Emma Parham, Hector Picon, Morgan Pollard, Amita Reddy, Wesley Samples, Luke Sikinyi, Indra Sofian, Mary Lyn Stegall, Nina Tran, Lindsey Vaughn, Dandan Wang, Elizabeth Wilhoite and Chas Williams.
