Sophomores and juniors in Spanish 3 Honors and above have an exciting opportunity to spend June 2-22 studying abroad at Colegio Delibes in Salamanca, Spain. In return, and in addition to invaluable experiential living in the Spanish culture, participants will receive one-half credit of elective Spanish and a special note on their Darlington transcript.
“This extraordinary learning experience immerses students in the Spanish language and culture for three weeks,” said Jim Linos, chairman of Darlington’s world languages department. “They will take Spanish in a Spanish school, learn Spanish culture and live with a Spanish family.”
Located 2.5 hours from Madrid, Salamanca’s Colegio Delibes is situated in a historical building, five minutes from the Plaza Mayor. Recently restored and equipped with the latest technology, it features 20 air-conditioned classrooms, a video and conference room, a library, and I.T. areas with free internet and wi-fi.
“Colegio Delibes offers intensive, interactive courses with four to six hours of lessons per day by highly qualified native teachers,” Linos said. “Courses represent 10 levels of learning, and the maximum number of students per class is only nine, so participants are guaranteed to receive the personalized attention they need to be successful.”
Cost of this program is $2,295 per student (not including airfare), which includes all courses and materials; accommodations with a classmate in a double-room with a Spanish family; all meals except final weekend in Madrid; all activities, tours and excursions; buses and transfers; medical insurance and a private Spanish mobile telephone. Airfare is estimated at close to $1,600 for a grand total of approximately $3,900 for the 22-day trip. A deposit of $500 is due by Jan. 21.
