Thirty-five Darlington students have been recognized by the Duke University Talent Identification Program’s 4th and 5th Grade Talent Search, which honors those who have scored at the 95th percentile or higher on a grade-level achievement test.
“This is truly a testament to the type of students we have at Darlington,” said Academic Dean David Powell.
Fourth-graders receiving Duke TIP recognition include Carter Anderson, Lucy Bearden, Molly Brewer, Griffin Brewster, Hank Crawford, John-Prosser Deaton, Frances Fields, Will Kimball, Teagan Martin, Kate Monroe, Chandler Pittman, Spencer Shadday, Sophie Stepp, Karson Swiger, Camille Temple and Grace Watters. These students represent 33 percent of the fourth grade.
Fifth-graders receiving Duke TIP recognition include Tommy Atha, Hayden Baldwin, Jack Bates, Lawson Blake, Annabelle Braden, Andy Brunt, Aiden Buzzetti, William Camp, Jack Eady, Spencer Herring, Adam Himes, Maggie Inman, Elliot Kinney, Rhett McDurmon, Samson Mumber, Jonathan Pieroni, Tejas Reddy, Nicholas Seijo and Daniella Tomaselli. These students represent 43 percent of the fifth grade.
These students join the 25 Darlington seventh-graders who qualified for Duke TIP earlier this year. Since 1980, more than 2 million gifted students have participated in Duke TIP’s Talent Searches. The talent search program provides educational resources and opportunities to the qualifying students who choose to participate.
