Athletes honored at Spring Sports Assembly

Outstanding athletes in baseball, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and track and field were recognized at the Spring Sports Assembly Monday, May 3, in Morris Chapel.

In baseball:

Senior Clay Phillips of Armuchee, Ga., received the Scholar-Athlete Award.

Senior Matt Duckworth of Rome was named Most Improved.

Senior Chase Butler of Rome was named Team MVP.

Junior Russ Arnold of Cedartown, Ga., received the Coaches Award.

In golf:

Senior Sneh Patel of Limbe, Malawi, and junior Abbie Brewster of Rome received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Sophomore Zachary Vick of Rome was named Most Improved.

Senior Will Jones of Rome and junior Helena Nies of Cologne, Germany, were named Team MVPs.

Senior Hunter Brooks of Rome received the Coaches Award.

Junior Eiken Hansen of Brandenburg, Germany, received the Captain's Award.

In lacrosse:

Senior Jess Milner and junior Chandler Holcombe of Rome received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Senior William Waters of Rome and Holcombe were named Team MVPs. Waters was also named Most Valuable Midfielder.

Seniors Robert Mull of Rome Lexi Maxwell of Naples, Fla., were named Most Improved.

Seniors Caroline Clements, Evan McClure and Kelsey Howell of Rome and Chelsey Lawrence of Dallas, Ga., received Coaches Awards.

Seniors Thomas Sipp and Tyler Slaughter of Rome received Founders Awards.

Senior Ryan Daugherty of Norcross, Ga., received the Exemplary Attitude Award.

Senior Brian Davidson of Rome was named Best Teammate.

Senior Joey Watters of Rome was named Most Valuable Attackman.

Senior Charlie Breen of Rome was named Most Valuable Defenseman.

In soccer:

Junoirs Margaret Hjort and Lucas Jennings of Rome received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Sophomore Marvin Mugisha of Kigali, Rwanda, and senior Morgan Reynolds of Rome were named Most Improved.

Constanza Ospina and Margaret Hjort, both of Rome, received Captain's Awards.

Seniors Maddie Cannon of Rome and Madison Tucker of Cedar Bluff, Ala., received Captain Awards.

Juniors Anna Shea and Owen Greeson, both of Rome, were named Team MVPs.

Junior Austin Mansour of Cartersville, Ga., received the Coaches Award.

In tennis:

Juniors Zach Martin of Rome and Ali Harton of Cartersville, Ga., received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Junior Preston Cobb of Canton, Ga., and sophomore Kelsey Ann Williams of Rome received Captain's Awards. Cobb and Williams were also named Team MVPs.

Sophomore Dent Law of Rome and junior Katharina Reckendrees of Herzebrock-Clarholz, Germany, received Coaches Awards.

In track and field:

Junior Anna Swafford of Dallas, Ga., and senior A.J. White, both of Rome, received Scholar-Athlete Awards.

Sophomores Paige Banks of Atlanta and Nigel Matthews of Rome were named Most Improved.

Senior Caty Cambron and sophomore Ivy Duggan of Rome received Coaches Awards.

Swafford and sophomore Jesse Baker of Rome were named MVPs.
