Ten trustees elected to Board, new chairman announced

Darlington School announced Friday, May 5 that 10 new members have been elected to the Board of Trustees:

Nancy Brant of Kingston, Ga., will serve as Parents Association president for 2006-07. She holds a nursing degree from Troy State University (Ala.), and is involved in many civic activities in Bartow and Floyd Counties. Nancy and her husband, Jeffrey, have four daughters, two of whom are Darlington alumni. This year, she served as vice president of both the Fine Arts Boosters’ Club and the Parents Association.

Dr. Scott Colley is the outgoing president of Berry College. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Randolph-Macon College (Va.) and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Chicago. He has also completed additional study at Harvard University. Scott and his wife, Christine, live in Rome.

Dave Dennis of Gulfport, Miss., is the co-owner of Specialty Contractors & Associates Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University, where he played varsity football. Dave and his wife, Jane, are the parents of two Darlington alumni. He also serves as a Federal Reserve Board member.

Will Enloe (’90) of Rome will serve as Alumni Council president for 2006-07. He is a human resources generalist at Berry College and holds a bachelor’s degree from Kenyon College (Ohio). Will is a member of Darlington’s Heritage Society.

Suzy Gilbert of Rome is a former trustee and member of the past three Presidential Search Committees. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University. Suzy and her husband, Peter (’57), are the parents of three Darlington alumni and the grandparents of four current students. She serves on the Annual Fund Board and is a member of the Heritage Society.

Dr. Bill Gordon (’64) of Winston Salem, N.C., is provost at Wake Forest University. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wake Forest and a Ph.D. in experimental psychology from Rutgers University. Bill and his wife, Kathryn, have four children.

Doug Hendrickson (’74 of Maysville, Ky., is president of Limestone Associates. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a master’s from Rutgers University. Doug and his wife, Kate, have four children. He also serves as a Kentucky Derby Board member.

Bob Hortman (’72) of Rome is a dentist. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a DMD degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Bob and his wife, Susan, are the parents of three Darlington alumni. He is a former member of the Alumni Council and the Annual Fund Board.

Bob Ledbetter (’84) of Rome is the executive vice president for development at Ledbetter Properties. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. Bob and his wife, Patti, are the parents of three current Darlington students. He is a former trustee, a Heritage Society member and an Alumni Leadership Board member.

Dr. Britta Stern (’94) of Stavanger, Norway, is a resident in dermatology/oncology at the University Hospital of Cologne, Germany. She attended medical school at Heinrich-Heine University in Dusseldorf, Germany. Britta is the first international trustee, and the youngest person to ever be elected to the Board.

Additionally, John Irby (’81) replaces Roby Robinson (’58) as chairman of the Board. Irby is a partner with Wilson Brock & Irby, LLC, in Atlanta. He has served as vice-chairman of the Board since May 2003 and chairman of the Presidential Search Committee. He is also a member of the Heritage Society and has served on the Annual Fund Board. John and his wife, Abby, have three daughters.
