A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Janet Scott-Crossland, a four-year day student from Rome who loves theater and working on The Inkslinger literary magazine.

Coach Ratledge

If you are involved in fine arts, what is your favorite activity and why?
Theater is my favorite fine arts activity because I love spending time with my friends and Ms. D and getting to perform.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
My favorite place on campus is the counseling offices because it's where I've spent a good amount of my time and I have good memories there.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mrs. Haynes, Ms. Daniel and Mrs. Johnson because they've all been amazing people and have helped me to reach my potential.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
My favorite thing about Darlington is all the fact that there are so many different places that I can just go hang out and relax, like the library or the lake.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
The 2019 Thanksgiving trip to Peru. It was an amazing experience that I probably wouldn't have had anywhere else. We got to spend half our time doing community service projects for a girls home and then the other half sight-seeing. We even got to climb Machu Picchu.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
During my time at Darlington, I've had the ability to be more myself. I've also definitely learned a lot, not just academically, but about myself, and just general life lessons.

Clinical biochemical geneticist
