As a connection to our study of plants in science, third-graders took the annual journey to B.J. Reece Orchards in beautiful Ellijay to pick fresh Georgia-grown apples. We toured the apple processing facility, visited with animals at the petting farm, slid on the giant slide, played in the corn box, played on the jumping pillow, enjoyed a tractor ride around the orchard while sipping cold apple cider, then picked a variety of apples from the orchard. Our day ended with a picnic lunch and time to shop in the farm market and bakery.
