The students were able, with the help of a marine educator at Skidaway, to virtually learn what organisms live in a single drop of salty water. Students learned how marine animals and plants are part of the planktonic community. Discussions at this lab also included how environmental factors such as temperature, salinity, and tidal stage relate to plankton abundance and may lead to phytoplankton blooms and how citizen scientists monitor for potentially hazardous algal blooms on rivers near Skidaway Island.
