Outstanding athletes in varsity cheerleading, crew, cross country, football, softball and volleyball were recognized at the Fall Sports Assembly on Monday, Dec. 9, in Morris Chapel.
In cheerleading:
Juniors Rachel Hudson of Rome and Caroline Hunt of Rockmart, Ga., received Scholar-Athlete Awards.
Seniors Sarah Beth Cline and Anna Riley of Rome as well as Kia Sims of Ellenwood, Ga., received Captain’s Awards.
In crew:
Juniors Mario Dinatti of Rome and Natalie Collins of Calhoun, Ga., received Scholar-Athlete Awards.
Juniors Matthew Heiken and Niambh O'Neill of Rome as well as Mary Frances Vest of Powder Springs, Ga., received Captain's Awards.
In cross country:
Seniors Bethany Cagle and Katie Hutchins of Rome as well as juniors Hope Roberson of Rome and Spencer Fields of Kingston, Ga., received Scholar-Athlete Awards.
Junior Kinslee Clevenger and senior Coulter Schrum, both of Rome, received Coaches’ Awards.
Sophomore Stephanie Ward of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and junior Spencer Fields of Kingston, Ga., were named Most Valuable Runners.
Seniors Bethany Cagle and Callee Manna of Rome; Trammell Braden of Kennesaw, Ga. and Avery Cypress of Atlanta received Captain's Awards.
In football:
Senior Chas Williams of Rome received the Scholar-Athlete Award.
Seniors Will Mathis and Will Hawkins of Rome as well as Jake Collier of Cedartown, Ga., received Captain's Awards.
In softball:
Senior Arden Babb of Rome, Ga., received the Scholar-Athlete Award and the Gold Glove Award.
Senior Emily Thurmond of Rome received the Silver Slugger Award.
Junior Emily Swafford of Dallas, Ga., was named MVP.
In volleyball:
Senior Amita Reddy of Rome received the Scholar-Athlete Award.
Senior Elizabeth Wilhoite of Cartersville, Ga., received the Coaches' Award.
Freshman Sydney Arthur of Cartersville, Ga., was named Most Improved..
Senior Sam Harton of Cartersville, Ga., was named MVP.
