You Can Make a Difference

Imagine a classroom where students have to share one or two copies of the same title. Seems kind of foreign in today's world where paperbacks are pretty cheap and often very attainable. This is not the case for a high school in New Orleans that was impacted by Hurricane Katrina several years ago. The school has had so many repair expenses after the hurricane that books have ended up at the end of a long list of needs.

Darlington English teacher Mitchell Maddox is currently spearheading a book drive to raise funds to purchase two classroom sets of paperback books for Sarah T. Reed High School. Classes there average around 35 students, so we are hoping to purchase a total of 70 books from raised funds. If you would like to donate, please contact Mr. Maddox, Mrs. Barnes, Mrs Payne or me. Any size contribution will be greatly appreciated and will help us attain our goal by our winter break deadline.
