Year ends with bustle of activities

The final months of the academic year are always afire with activities: field trips, lesson conclusions, summer plans, and wonders of what the next year will offer. Here is a sample of some of the activities and lessons learned this spring:
•The Lower School hosted a family picnic and art show.
•Fifth graders enjoyed Cinco de Mayo with a theme luncheon on the courtyard to celebrate their research projects on Mexico (including Mexican independence, the flag, Mexican music, architecture, holidays, history, traditions, art, food, drink, clothing, Aztec culture, life and recreation, myths and legends).
•Reatha Carroll and the fifth-grade classes toured the Capital.
•Second graders visited the Upper School as part of their study on careers.
•The Upper School Science Club demonstrated experiments at the Lower School to fourth and fifth graders.
•In the fourth grade, Katie Brown's father, Chris Brown ’80, taught them a lesson on geology, presented them with several fossil specimens, and answered questions the students had about the earth.
