Work of ’99 grad featured in RACA exhibit

The work of ’99 alumna Elizabeth Ogletree is currently featured in a Rome Area Council for the Arts (RACA) exhibit called “Eternal Spring: An Emerging Artists Invitational Exhibition,” which opened July 12. The work of other young artists from the Southeast is featured in this juried exhibit as well.
Ogletree earned a Bachelor of Arts from The University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., majoring in English and Fine Art with a concentration in photography. Ogletree completed a program of European studies at Oxford, U.K., Greece and Italy in 2001, and, recently, spent two months photographing Europe.
“Eternal Spring” also includes works by Dick Aunspaugh, Scott Bailey, Brian Barr, Christine Bentley, Elizabeth Bonner, Amelia Boyd, Micah Cain, Ian Childers, Russell Cook, Robert Cox, Andrea Gaggini, Siri Gundersen, Jess Hinshaw, Deborah Reeves, Sabeth Scarbrough and Joanie Williams. Media includes two-dimensional works in watercolor, oil on canvas, acrylic, pencil and printmaking. Three-dimensional assemblage and pottery are also included in the exhibition.
This exhibit, which will run through August 20, is organized by co-curators Siri Gundersen, a recent Shorter College graduate, and Allen Bell, executive director of RACA.
An opening reception with the artists was held Thursday, July 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. at RACA, located at 217 East First Street in downtown Rome. The RACA gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call RACA at 706-295-ARTS.
