Waters named April Student of the Month

Outstanding academic achievement has won senior Kate Waters the honor of being named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for April.
Waters has a GPA of 94.81 with seven Honors and two AP credits. While at Darlington, she has earned an E.L. Wright Scholastic Award, been named to the Headmaster’s List all four years, and been inducted into the National Honor Society, Cum Laude Society, Gamma Chi Epsilon and Mu Alpha Theta. She is also a Converse Junior Scholar.
During high school, Waters has been involved the House Senate, “Y” Cabinet, and currently serves as secretary of the Honor Council. She has represented her class on Homecoming Court for two years, been elected a class officer and served as a liaison in Cooper House. A four-year member of the varsity softball and basketball teams, Waters has been recognized as an outstanding student-athlete in both sports. In 2007, she received the Meggie Beth Erwin Award for her performance on the basketball court. She has also been a member of the varsity track and field and varsity golf teams.
Outside of Darlington, she has participated in the National Youth Leadership Forum and volunteered at the YMCA and First Methodist Church, where she is a member.
The daughter of Kathy and Eric Waters of Rome, Kate Waters will be honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on April 29.
