Varsity Girls Basketball Breaks Losing Streak, Reaches .500

The Darlington Lady Tigers, coached by Tommy Atha, are off to a 7-7 start. Highlights of the season include the following games:

After a five-game winning streak early in the season, the Lady Tigers lost the first round of the Rome News-Tribune’s Holiday Festival Monday, Dec. 20, as Rockmart took an early commanding lead and went on to win 60-37.

Seventh-ranked Calhoun defeated the Lady Tigers 71-44 in a difficult game Tuesday, Jan. 4. Beth Mooney led the Tigers in that game with 12 points.

In a game versus Model Friday, Jan. 7, the Lady Tigers got off to a slow start, but made it a close game before losing 70-57. Mooney led Darlington with 23 points.

The Tigers bested Mt. Paran 57-31 Saturday, Jan. 15, holding their opponent scoreless in the first quarter. Mooney scored 23 points and Meggie Erwin scored 11. The game broke a seven game losing streak for the Tigers.

The Darlington Lady Tigers, coached by Tommy Atha, defeated Galloway 50-40 Tuesday, Jan. 18, lifting their record to 7-7. Beth Mooney led the game’s scoring with 25 points. Katie Pritchett made two 3-pointers to finish with 8 points.
