Varsity basketball goes to State

The boys varsity basketball team has earned reserved place in the State Tournament this year. After coming in third in the Rome Christmas tournament, the Tigers moved on to earn a third place finish in Region 6AA competition. In the State Tournament qualifying game, they came from a 15 points deficit in the third quarter to beat Model High School 68-55.
The team wrapped up a solid season with a 14-11 record overall and 10-9 in Region AA. “This year’s team was characterized by hard work and effort every time they took the court,” said Jim Van Es, varsity basketball head coach. “With strong senior leadership and contributions from all members of the team, the Tigers have given all of us a year to remember.” Graduating seniors on the team were Tom Arnold, Michael Glanton, Porter Leslie, Henry Rodriguez, and Frank Stegall.
