Orientation for freshmen day students and their parents took place Thursday, Aug. 17. Anxiety was relieved as Headmaster David Rhodes walked the new students through a typical day and explained general information about the Upper School. Afterward, Lisa Schlenk, director of admission, led the parents through a separate orientation while the freshmen went on a campus tour.

Despite the many new changes that the school is undergoing, the annual tradition of the Freshman Retreat will convene August 26 and 27at Camp Laney in Mentone, Ala, just as it has for many years. Darlington Directions is another tradition that will continue, but the competing teams will be reorganized to accommodate the house system. To honor the seniors’ wishes, their team will be preserved, and the three other teams will consist of Gibbons and Zimmer houses, Harris and Steadman houses, and Griffeth and Barnes houses.
