Two named to All-Area Football Team

Two Darlington students were named to the Rome News-Tribune's 2006 All-Area Football Team this month.
Luke Kelley was named an offensive lineman. A 6-foot-1, 255-pound senior, Kelley was the anchor of Darlington's offensive line this year. Coach Tommy Atha called him a "source of inspiration in our offensive huddle," and said he was "the kind of athlete that always did the extra things." Kelley is the son of Darlene and Jeff Kelley of Rome.
Shawn Powell, senior, was named punter on the defensive lineup. His 51.2 yard-per-punt average was one of the best in Georgia, much less the area. He also boasted a long of 67 this season. Powell is the son of Larry Powell of Rome and Kellie Powell of Indialantic, Fla.
