Two lacrosse players achieve post-season honors

Two members of Darlington's varsity lacrosse team have achieved post-season honors.
William Waters has been named to the 2009 All-State Lacrosse Team, selected by high school lacrosse coaches in Georgia. A rising senior, Waters was selected Second Team All-State for his play at face-off and midfielder for the Darlington Tigers. He led the Tigers in goals (46), ground balls (12 per game), and had a 71 percent face-off win rate for the season. He was also selected by Georgia High School coaches to participate in the Georgia All Star Rising Senior Invitational to be held May 30 at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. Additionally, Waters has been named an Adidas High School All-American. As such, he will represent the Team Georgia Regional team in the 2009 Adidas National Lacrosse Classic to be held in Germantown, Md., in July. The Adidas National Lacrosse Classic brings the top 500 high school underclassmen lacrosse players in the country to one venue, where 20 regional teams will compete to become the 2009 USA Champion and earn the chance to compete for an International Championship against Canada. He is the son of Kathy and Eric Waters of Rome.
Connor Somerville was named to the All-League team by Georgia high school lacrosse coaches. A recent graduate, he contributed 30 goals and added 11 assists as the top point scorer on attack, and was named the Most Valuable Attackman for the Tigers this year. He is the son of Rick and the late Anne Somerville of Rome.
