Thanksgiving is charging toward us with its dozens of accompanying decisions and chores.  I love getting together with my family but the cooking, cleaning, and/or packing can get me down!  For me, this is a great time to reread a book.  When I read a book for the second or third time, it is like visiting an old friend who tells you new things.  I realize how much I had forgotten as well as pick up on details I had skimmed over the first time.

This year I am packing Gina Jamie Father Bear by George Ella Lyon.  There are two separate threads to the story which intertwine in a surreal meeting of past and present, with the characters helping to heal one another’s pain.  Reading a page or two before bed will quiet my mind and help me sleep.  While the holidays can be rollicking fun or quietly lonely, a good story can always be there when you need it!
