Tri For The Kids Youth Triathlon to follow Tri For The Shelter Sprint Triathlon

Youth racers now have more time to train for the Tri For The Kids Triathlon at Darlington School. Due to the weather, the Tri For The Kids Youth Triathlon has been postponed to Sunday, June 23. Registration has re-opened. The race will follow the Tri For The Shelter Sprint Triathlon on Saturday, June 22, at Rocky Mountain Recreation Area.
The Saturday, June 22, sprint distance race at Rocky Mountain features a 500-yard lake swim, 18.75-mile bike and 3-mile run. Not ready to compete alone? Relay teams are welcome and encouraged. Registration is $70 for individuals and $90 for relay teams until May 17 ($10 more after). Proceeds benefit the William S. Davies Homeless Shelter.
The Tri For The Kids Youth Triathlon on Sunday, June 23, is for ages 7-15 and includes three categories – expert, beginner and physically challenged. Ages 7-9 will complete a 50-yard swim in Darlington's Huffman Athletic Center swimming pool, a 2.3-mile bike ride on Cave Spring Road (closed to traffic during the race) and a half-mile run on the campus. Participants age 10-15 will complete a 100-yard swim, 4.6-mile bike ride and 1-mile run. Registration is $40 and proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Rome.
Both the sprint and youth races are USAT sanctioned and awards will be presented to top finishers. All youth racers will receive medals. Registration closes June 19.
