Thanks to the 263 racers, 100 volunteers and 48 sponsors, this year’s Tri for the Kids triathlons raised $22,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Rome.
Despite the April 27 tornadoes that forced cancellation of the Tri for the Kids Olympic Triathlon, the 3rd Annual Tri for the Kids Youth Triathlon at Darlington School proceeded as scheduled with more racers than ever, including 20 participants in the physically challenged category.
“We are very appreciative to Beth Smith, Sarah Husser, RACE Rome, and all the wonderful volunteers, athletes and sponsors that contributed to this event,” said J.R. Davis, chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Club. “These funds will help the Boys & Girls Club continue to provide hope and opportunity to hundreds of local children every day.”
The Racing Awareness Charity Events of Rome (RACE Rome) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support local charities through unique multisport outdoor events designed to promote the community, improve quality of life, develop trails and provide participants with healthy and wholesome outdoor competition.
Tri for the Kids is one of six races presented by RACE Rome and Rome Orthopaedic Center. For information on future races visit www.racerome.org.
