Transforming Lives Through Service

Darlington’s Mission is “To empower students to learn with passion, act with integrity, and serve with respect.” Every day we ask students to fulfill our Mission and live our Motto – “Wisdom more than knowledge; Service beyond self; Honor above everything.” Even our youngest students are leading the way. 

Pre-K teacher Beth Smith (’87) and her students transform the lives of Rome’s homeless by preparing monthly meals for the William S. Davies Homeless Shelter. In Darlington Story No. 45, Allison Mitchell, executive director of the shelter, shares her appreciation and talks about the impact these students are making at such an early age. The shelter is 100% community supported with no state or federal funding, so the meals our pre-K students provide are a vital means of showing they care for those deserving of help. Click here to watch as the children prepare a meal and to hear Ms. Mitchell tell their story.
