The Tri for the Kids Youth Triathlon is fast approaching on May 6! This event is an amazing experience for all and a wonderful benefit to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rome, and I talked with Lower School students about what a wonderful opportunity this could be for them during yesterday’s assembly.
Think of the best summer day of your life - I bet you swam, rode your bike all over your neighborhood and ran around with friends playing kick the can after dinner. That is exactly what a triathlon is! Swim, bike and run - all in the same race!
We will begin Tri Training practices THIS Sunday to help your child get ready for the race. We’ll host additional training sessions throughout the month of April. I will show them everything they will need to know to have a great experience on race day. The training schedule is posted on the Lower School Announcements. Please let me know which sessions your child will be coming to so I will have enough help at each one. If you are willing to help out, watch or bike along with us during the sessions, that would be great, too!
You may go to www.imathlete.com to register for the race. Just type in Tri for the Kids in the search box and the race will come up. You may also visit www.racerome.org to see the complete list of all the local races and exactly where your registration fees go; 85% of all monies generated by Race Rome events go straight back into our community!
Please email me with any questions you may have. I look forward to seeing your excited kids next week at practice and to seeing lots of amazed parents and amazing athletes in just a few short weeks!
