Traffic Jams Come to an End

Mark Tayloe believes the era of Lower School traffic jams is over, thanks to the cooperation of parents, who have supported a new traffic procedure.
“The first week of school, I became concerned when I saw cars lined up on Horseleg Creek Road in both directions waiting for an opportunity to enter the campus,” Tayloe said. “The traffic was at a standstill. I watched impatient motorists try to pass, even though a blind curve was just ahead. Once the students were dismissed from classes at 3 p.m., the traffic moved at a pace and by 3:15 p.m. everyone was through. However, between 2:50 p.m. and 3 p.m., we really had a safety issue on our hands.”
After consulting with teachers, Tayloe sent a letter home Aug. 30 asking parents not to line up to pick up their children before 2:55 p.m., and unless their children had to be somewhere right after school to wait until after 3 p.m. By the next day, the problem was solved.
“I am pleased that our parents responded so quickly and so positively,” Tayloe said. “Thanks to our parents, after-school traffic on our campus is now a non-issue.”
