Tour England with Mr. Moss

Darlington students, families, friends and alumni are invited to spend spring break in England with faculty members Sam Moss (’63) and Jill Pate. The trip will depart March 8 and return March 16, 2007.
Each day of the trip will be busy with activity, and the first is no exception. After arriving in London March 9, the group will travel to Windsor Castle before checking into the Randolph Hotel in Oxford to rest and have dinner.
The next day will include tours of Stratford-Upon-Avon, Shakespeare’s birthplace, and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage before checking into the Arden Thistle Hotel.
Sunday’s itinerary will begin with a tour of Warwick Castle before heading to Cambridge, where the group will stop for lunch and see Cambridge University. Next, they will head to Canterbury where they will spend the night at the Chaucer Hotel.
Monday will bring visits to Canterbury Cathedral, where Thomas Becket was murdered, and a tour of London, which will include the Tower of London and the Crown Jewels. The group will check into Hotel Pastoria for the week.
Tuesday morning, they will visit the famed Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum before spending an afternoon at their leisure and attending the theatre in the evening.
Wednesday, Moss and Pate will lead walking tours of London, which could include the Changing of the Guard, Cabinet War Room and Westminster Abbey. That afternoon will consist of individualized tours and/or exploration. It will be optional to attend the theatre in the evening.
The last day in London is a “free day.” Group members might enjoy shopping in Knightsbridge and at Harrods’, afternoon tea and a night on the town.
Cost of the trip is $3,500 per person, which includes round-rip airfare, accommodations, full breakfasts throughout the trip and all dinners outside of London, all sightseeing per itinerary and entrance fees, transportation in and around London, tour guides and service charges and taxes. A deposit of $250 is due by Oct. 27 to guarantee air space and theatre tickets. Final payment is due Dec. 1.
