By Tannika King - Faculty
The Darlington campus is always buzzing with activity, but October is an especially busy (and beautiful!) month here at the Lakeside. Make plans to attend one or more of these five upcoming events on campus and -- whether you are a student, parent, alum, grandparent, faculty member or friend -- make the most out of your connection to this special place.
1. Blood Drive: Tomorrow (Oct. 10) from 2 to 7 p.m., Darlington will host a Blood Drive in honor of freshman Zane Anderson, who was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) at age 13. The Blood Assurance Blood Vessel will be at the McCallie-Kennedy Library for anyone 16 or older who would like to participate. Click here for more information. Thank you to our servant leaders for organizing this event -- what a great example of Service Beyond Self in honor of a classmate!
2. Alcohol Awareness Speaker: This Friday (Oct. 11) at 8:30 a.m. in Morris Chapel, Chris Sandy will speak to Upper School students on the topics of alcohol awareness and making positive choices. Parents are welcome to attend. Click here for more information about Chris Sandy and his story.
3. Fall for the Arts: Also on Friday (Oct. 11) from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the arts will come alive on the Morris Chapel Lawn and you don't want to miss it! Click here for more details about this annual celebration of the fine arts at Darlington, and come out and watch our students as they share their passion with the entire community. There will be something for everyone, admission is free, and this event is definitely family friendly!
4. Berry College Football Game - Darlington is proud to be part of Berry College's inaugural football season by hosting three games on campus this fall. Come out to Darlington's Chris Hunter Stadium on Saturday (Oct. 12) at 1 p.m. and watch the Berry College Vikings take on Centre. Bring the family and be a part of history!
5. "Denim and Diamonds" One-School Fundraiser: On Saturday (Oct. 12) at 7 p.m., Darlington's parent organizations will host the "Denim and Diamonds" Dinner, Raffle and Auction. Don't miss out on your chance to win $10,000 in the reverse raffle, bid on hundreds of amazing items in the auction, and enjoy a fun evening of great food and entertainment. Click here for a sneak peek of the auction items that will be up for grabs and make plans to attend by buying your ticket online! This event is for adults only.
These are only a few of the many things going on at Darlington this week -- we also have athletic teams in the state playoffs and so much more! Remember, for the most up-to-date and complete list, always visit the School Calendar on Darlington's website.
