Tony Lopez, martial arts instructor, has accepted an offer to make another martial arts film. “Combat Sambo,” will be available for purchase in the fall of 2002. Filming will take place in California, possibly in Santa Barbara. Lopez has invited junior Mark Mooring, Chad Warner, Middle School faculty, Gabe Tharp ’97, Robert Hamilton ‘98, and Darlington parents Bill Hamilton and Walter Sweat to accompany him for filming.
This will be Lopez’s eleventh film, but he has been offered many other film contracts. Because of publicity from his films, Lopez has received over 1,000 requests from adults wanting to train under him. Currently, Lopez only trains twelve adults.
