Time to Open Capsule

As part of Rome’s sesquicentennial celebration in 1984, Lower School students sponsored a float to commemorate Alfred Shorter’s home, Thornwood, which is home to the Lower School. A small replica of this house, built by Lower School parents at the time, Jim Booker, John Dudley, and David Morgan, served as the focal point of a parade float. Later, the replica was used as a time capsule, the contents of which were revealed at this year's first Lower School assembly in August.
After the time capsule was revealed, a new time capsule was begun with lists of students’ favorite things from cartoons and fast food to clothes and music. "We plan to open this time capsule in the year 2010, and see if these students consider current fads to be favorites then," Diane Lumpkin, coordinator of the project, said.
