Tigers with All Kinds of Minds

A hard fact for any educator to face is that it’s easy to teach the same way, every day, but a singular style of instruction delivery does not engage many (or any) who want to learn. 

That's why several years ago, Darlington School and its Parents Association committed a generous amount of time and financial resources to professional development that would help us learn new instructional approaches and strategies to suit the different types of learners in all of our teaching environments (classes, playgrounds, dorms, auditoriums and fields, etc.) Our goal was to gain a better appreciation and understanding of all types of learners. 

All Kinds of Minds is the program we chose. Through one week’s training and a practicum, faculty have learned to look at their environments through a different lens – not a lens viewing the course of study, but the lens observing the trends of the class and the nuances of the individuals in that class. We learned a great deal from our course instructors, but an additional wealth of information was collected from our skilled colleagues.
