Tigers Catch Waves of Success

Darlington’s swim team captured four first-place finishes during its season opener, Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Dalton High School. The boys’ team captured three wins as it scored 77 points to beat Notre Dame (65) and finish second behind Dalton (93). In the 200-yard medley the team of Wyatt Mooring, senior, Chan Woo, freshman, Phillip Floyd, junior, and Mark Mooring, sophomore, won with a time of 2:05:17.

Team co-captain Wyatt Mooring also immerged victorious in the 50 freestyle at 24:36. The quartet of Wyatt and Mark Mooring, Floyd, and Ben Crews, senior, won the 200-free relay with a time of 1:47:65.

In girl’s competition Megan Bevill, junior, won the six-dive competition with 147 points. Second place finishes were turned in by Rachel Sargent, junior, in the 200 freestyle and Laura McGuire, freshman, in the 50 freestyle. Co-captain Jordan Bray, senior, along with Molly Mathews, senior, Rachel Swan, freshman, and Diana Beauford, senior, placed second in 200-freestyle Relay. The next meet is scheduled for January 18, 4:30 p.m., at Rome High School.
