Tiger football season ends on winning note

The 2002 Varsity football season ended on a winning note, Friday, Nov. 15, in Dade County with the Tigers winning 35-14. The Tigers jumped on top early leading at halftime by the score of 28-0 and cruised the rest of the way to victory. The victory at Dade culminated a 7-3 season for the Tigers under first-year head coach Tommy Atha. "I am very pleased with the way this team has improved over the course of this year. We got better and better as the year progressed. With such a small senior class, we depended heavily on our juniors and sophomores this year, and many of them gained valuable playing experience," Atha said. "I am extremely excited about the prospects for next season. I think we have a returning core that is eager to get stronger and faster in the off season. If we can build on what we have accomplished this year, we have a bright future ahead."

Season highlights include a come-from-behind overtime win in the last seconds at Trion and a last second field goal to defeat Chattooga County at home.
