Three named to All-Area Basketball Teams

Three varsity basketball players were named to the 2009 Rome News-Tribune All-Area Basketball Teams.

Tyshawn Good was named Co-Player of the Year, along with Model High's Fernando Lemus. A senior, Good was the leading scorer in the state for Class A, averaging 28.8 points per game. He also averaged 8.5 rebounds per game and four assists, setting school records for points in a season with 778 and points in a career with 2,002. He was key in helping Darlington take the Region 6-A championship and reach the Class A Elite Eight.

Cole Allen has been called one of the top perimeter shooters in the area. He averaged 13.5 points per game and led the team with 68 three-pointers. The 5-foot-10 senior guard had a standout game in the Sweet 16 as he went 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and scored a game-high 29 points against Athens Academy.

Lindsay Evans made an immediate impact on Darlington's program during her freshman season by starting all 29 games and leading the Lady Tigers in scoring with an average of 12.8 points per game. She also averaged six rebounds and three steals per game, and earned a spot on the All-Region Team in 6-A.

Honorable Mentions went to Shaq Calhoun, Nora Cook and Jay Stephens.
