Three make All-Area Wrestling Team, Jones ('12) named Wrestler of the Year

Three varsity wrestlers were named to the Rome News-Tribune All-Area First Team, with Spencer Jones ('12) crowned Wrestler of the Year.
Jones established himself as one of the premier performers in Greater Rome history when he earned his fourth straight state championship by winning the 152-pound weight division at the Class A meet. He finished his career with a staggering 161-9 record and lost just once this season. He is the son of Lisa and Scott Jones of Adairsville, Ga., and Selena Johnson, also of Adairsville.
Jordan Beck, a rising junior, earned a fifth-place finish at the Class A meet. He wrestled at 145 pounds. He is the son of Kristi and Frankie Beck of Rome.
Jule Peek, a rising junior, posted a record of 34-7 this season and earned third at the state meet. He wrestled at 126 pounds. He is the son of Stacy and Jule Peek of Rome.
Honorable Mentions went to rising sophomore Hayden Cook of Aragon, Ga., and Gavin Lawrence ('12) of Taylorsville, Ga.
