This Time of Year
By Lea Duncan - FF/S
This is the time of year when we mark the end of the “beginning of school” and start to make warmer plans for the months ahead. (Never truer than this year—brrrr!)
Your administration is looking even further into the future trying to accommodate the next “beginning of school!” It’s always interesting to me that these thoughts and conversations coincide with various entertainment award programs. Ideally, there should be as much buzz about the superstar performances at the Lower School as there is about the latest nominated actors and films!
I would love to hear enthusiastic testimonials among friends urging each other to be sure not to miss the “Oval Rug” with the president and vice president of the day in Mrs. Cox’s class or the pre-K class as they talk about place value! Wouldn’t it be great to tell someone that they have absolutely got to see WDLS and witness our talented fourth-graders anchor, produce and broadcast the early morning show? And goodness, have you seen the third-graders compete in mad-minute-math at the SMART Board?! Amazing!
See if you can grab a friend’s attention today and be as excited and enthusiastic about something your child is doing at Darlington as you were about the last great movie you saw. Our students and teachers are award-winning and we hope you think so, too! Please share the golden moments that happen at Darlington—your friends have just GOT to see it!
