The Darlington Players to present “LOOT”

The Darlington Players will present Joe Orton’s British comedy “LOOT” April 24, 25 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Zelle Fine Arts Center.
“LOOT” is a wild parody of detective fiction, adding the blackest farce and jabs at established ideas on death, police, religion and justice.
“The actors have worked very hard on this production,” said director Michael Moncrief, a junior theatre major from Berry College. “‘LOOT’ is not the easiest play to pull off. The language is complicated and the absurdist style can be, at times, hard to grasp. However, these students have risen to the challenge. The cast is a wide spectrum of personalities, and I think that each one impeccably fits his or her character in the play. I can guarantee the audience will not be disappointed.”
The play follows the story of Hal and his pal, Dennis, who have just robbed a bank and need a place to stash their loot. With the police hot on their trail, the boys hide the stolen cash in an unlikely place.
“The show is coming along brilliantly,” Moncrief said. “The actors are polishing up their lines and finding subtle nuances that give depth and dimension to their characters. I have an excellent crew that has worked diligently to pull this massive undertaking together. I could have never done this if it wasn’t for the enthusiastic aid of my friends, the cast, crew and other Darlington students. I have had so much fun in directing this production; I only hope the actors have as well.”
The cast of “LOOT” includes T.J. Crews, Cole Daniel, Ryan Gaffney, Logan O’Riley, Daniel Powell, Stephanie Schecter and Anna Stephenson.
Students, parents and members of the Rome community are invited to stop by Zelle Drama Room at 7:30 p.m. on April 24, 25 or 27 to see “LOOT.” Admission is free. The show is rated PG-13 for adult language and situations.
